bees already without broken thumb victim scott nicholls, had a further knock back when rory schlein was declared unfit to race after a nasty accident in poland the previous night, so with lee richardson in as guest for nicholls bees had to operate rider replacement for schlein. the meet got of to the worst possible start for bees with the visitors taking the opening heat with an easy 5-1, balance was quickley restored when allen and smolinski (on janniro's bike) took advantage of the weak wolves reserve pairing. heat 3 saw ex bees rider show he know how around the brandon circuit by passing the fast starting allen to tie the race. wolves took the next two races and the signs where not good for the bees, with guest richardson looking a pale shadow of the rider he was during his bees days.
wolves then had the next three heat winners but bees packed the minor placing to keep the deficit to only 4 points. harris became only the seond heat winner for the bees in heat 9 and risger took third to bring the bees to wothin two points of the visitors. two more sharde heats followed, the pick of which was heat 11 when harris inflicted peter karlssons only defeat of the evening. the turning point for the bees came in heat 12, unbeaten bily hamill took oly allen into the fence and the resulting exclusion proved costly for the visitors from monmore green. in the re-run the bees were on a comfortable 5-1 maximum before an engine failure for allen let carl wilkinson through for a bees 4-2 to tie the meeting.
harris and risager then kept lindgren at bay to keep the scores level with two races remaining. wolves management changed the rider ording in heat 14 but bees pairing of allen and risager once again proved too powerful and gave the bees a 5-1 and a four point cushion with one race remaining. a misjudgement by karlsson in the last heat left partner hamill nowhere to go which in turn left enough room for both bees riders to get past and share the race result and give the bees a four point victory. |
